Leon qualified as an optometrist from Wits University in 1991 and then completed a part-time post-graduate Optometry course through Boston University in 1996.
He initially worked for a big optometry group in the Vaal Triangle area for 3 years and then moved down to Durban North in 1995. Having sold his previous practice at the Hyper-by-the-Sea at the end of 2011, he has reopened in the recently renovated Woolworths centre on Mackeurtan Avenue, Durban North.
His new quirky vintage look shop stocks trendy designer frames as well some exclusive vibrant couture colorful eyewear that is so sought after these days. For those preferring a more classic look, they have high quality German frames as well as a selection of budget frames for the price-conscious.
Glad to be serving the community, Leon continues to deliver personal attention to each patient from the initial eye test to the frame selection and the final fitting of spectacles or contact lenses. Leon prides himself on his personal interest in each patient from the young to the old. Local retirement homes, frail care visits at home or in hospital are part of Leon’s commitment to the community. Leon is contracted in to all medical aids and he runs frequent specials which folks are encouraged to look out for in the local media.
Leon is married to Dinorah, who runs a home-school tutor centre from their home in La Lucia. They have 3 teenage girls - Julia and Rachel attend Danville Girls High school and Loren is at University.
As a family they enjoy camping and visiting the game reserves. They have been a part of the local Harvest church for about 20 years. "I know that any success that I have enjoyed in any area of my life has been through God’s grace and favour and good old fashioned every day hard work!"
